Energy Concepts LLC Overview

Energy Concepts is a small company dedicated to solar energy located in Hudson, Wisconsin. The company was founded in 1994 but has, since 2007, been providing engineering design and installation services for residential and commercial renewable energy systems. They also service utilities and recently completed an installation project at an airport.

Although the company can be described as relatively small, it has completed over 250 installations, with a combined capacity of 10MW. These are impressive figures in comparison to some other WI competitors. Their business structure is high cost, as they do not compromise on quality. The company provides services throughout the entire state and the greater Midwest area.

Solar Panels and Services Offered by Energy Concepts

Specific Solar Panels Offered

Energy Concepts use SunPower solar panels, amongst other top brands. This manufacturer provides some of the most powerful cell and highest wattage panels that can be put on roofs. They have an efficiency rate of 22%, the highest available on the market today. Their A-Series panel is claimed to be the world’s first 400W solar panel.

They also stock and provide Heliene Panels, which are known to have an efficiency of 20.13%, not the best in the market, though. Heliene Panels also have a rated power of 400W. Panasonic, SolarEdge, and ABB are other panels on offer, all top-quality products.

Specific Types of Solar Offered

Energy Concepts offers an array of solar designs, from rooftop mounts to ground mounts and pole mounts. They can provide grid-tied systems for residential and commercial installations and hybrid and off-grid systems for residential solar only.

This company believes that engineering is vital to the success of any solar energy project, and they claim to offer experienced, outstanding solar services with a unique engineering-first approach. They also take you through project development and the permitting and utility application process, which can prove to be cumbersome for first-time applicants.

Installation Costs and Process

Costs

Owing to the types of products they offer, which are top quality, Energy Concepts offers high-cost and high-quality service. Customers who reviewed their products and services did not seem to mind the cost and were hugely satisfied at the end of it all. We would agree with these customers because a durable and reliable system is best in the long run.

The company believes that return on investment is a huge consideration when calculating the value of a renewable energy project; hence they will do a financial analysis for you, which includes tax credit and depreciation, rebates, electrical energy savings, future electric rate escalations, third party solar generation model, and financial options.

You are guaranteed quality products and service, and you will be helped to get the best financial deal that will allow you to recoup 100% of your initial investment within 6 to 12 years.

Legitimacy

Energy Concepts is a legitimate company. It is:

  • Certified by NABCEP as a PV Installer.
  • Affiliated with the MREA.
  • A licensed Wisconsin Building and Electrical Contractor EA775799 and BC780698.
  • Licensed in Wisconsin, company number E056765.
  • Transparent with its contact details and active on social media.

The company has numerous reviews and partnerships with leading manufacturers like SolarEdge and Solectria for inverters, SunPower and Heliene for panels, and DPW Solar and IronRidge for racking. Their sub-contractors have contractor bonding and OSHA training, and appropriate insurance coverage.

Maintenance

This company does not use in-house staff for some of the services they offer, for instance, construction, where they partner with sub-contractors. They claim to use only experienced and licensed trades workers with all relevant knowledge and certifications. Customer reviews stated that they were responsive to emails and calls and cared about their work.

Their products have a standard manufacturer’s warranty, over and above the labor warranty they provide. Their design plans are backed by a design errors and omission insurance policy against errors, omissions, or deficiencies.

Despite the use of sub-contractors, we believe they will be responsive to any maintenance issues a customer might face. Indeed, there were no complaints regarding their failure to respond to customer problems when called on to do so in the reviews.

The SolarEmpower View

Energy Concepts prides itself on producing professionally engineered plans that certify your project meets the highest standards. They have an overall customer review rating of 4.6 stars and, in our view, are a relatively good company. They offer high-quality products, and reviewers rated their customer service favorably. They are legitimate and have a good reputation in the state of Wisconsin, having received the state of Wisconsin Renewable Energy Market Provider of the Year award in 2019.

Although they are not the cheapest installers on the market, their emphasis on best-in-class products ensures that you get value for your money, which is a good thing.
