MyOwn Power is a small-size solar installation company based in Fort Worth, Texas. The company makes it easy for organizations, homeowners, businesses, schools, non-profits, and government entities to switch to solar energy supply.

Established in 2016, their mission is to offer renewable energy to clients looking for a clean and feasible way to cut down the ever-rising rates from mainstream energy providers, while not affecting daily lives or monthly budgets. Once their clients sign up for solar energy supply, they take care of the entire process, from permits with local municipalities to design and installation.

MyOwn Power Services and Features

Solar Power System: MyOwn Power offers photovoltaic systems for both residential and commercial buildings. Solar panels are installed (on rooftops or mounted on the ground) to generate electricity for the users. The ground-mount solar panels are applicable in large-scale utility stations; the company can help clients build a solar farm to generate steady income by selling electricity back to the grid.

Solar Attic Fans: MyOwn Power offers natural light solar attic fans that are manufactured using high-impact photovoltaic solar panels to power the fan during the day. Installing a solar attic fan is a simple way to add a motorized venting system to your home without needing any extra electrical wiring or structural changes. Installation takes less than one hour as the units are fully operational right out of the box.

HVAC: MyOwn Power offers different products for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning in your home. The system is set up to provide heating and cooling services to both residential and commercial buildings. With so many options available, the company helps its clients decide which option is best for each peculiar situation. They also have an array of product partners to provide a nice collection of brands.

Post-Installation Service: MyOwn Power offers ongoing monitoring and repair services after the installation and set up of solar panels. They guarantee energy generation from the American-made solar panels they install, with industry-standard warranties. Their clients can easily track and view energy consumption and production with free weekly emails, e-billing, and a dedicated mobile app.

Financing Options: Pricing and savings depend on various factors such as location, solar system size, government rebates, and local utility rates. The company clearly states that there is no guarantee of savings on the customers’ total electricity costs. The clients’ location determines the financing terms, as financing is unavailable in all locations.

MyOwn Power is a legitimate company. Here are some of its most recent accreditations and partnerships:

  • It is a BBB-accredited business.
  • The company has partnerships with SolarEdge, Mission Solar Energy, Carrier, Lennox, and Trane.
  • MyOwn Power is transparent about its contact details, providing its location, email, and phone number on its website for ease of contact.

Reviewers generally have a nice experience with the services rendered by MyOwn Power. From the consultation stage, the technicians focus on the client’s questions and explain why and how the recommended systems were chosen. The clients confirmed that the company’s consultants are knowledgeable and thorough. Reviewers particularly appreciated the fact that the salesmen are not pushy and are willing to listen to the customer’s plight and needs before recommending the appropriate solar solution that fits the customer’s needs.

The company also does roofing. This comes in handy when the roof is damaged due to weather conditions. The solar panels need to be removed before the roof can be repaired, so the process might be a bit challenging. However, the work is easier because it is the same company that is handling both panel installation and roofing; scheduling is not complicated.

Some reviewers reported that the company lacks good communication skills. It sometimes takes a long time before the company replies to clients’ complaints and inquiries.

They take the money and run! Stay away!!
I purchased a full system of panels and a chem battery backup system in 2021. They installed the panels, however I waited until October 2022 for the battery backup system due to supply chain issues. In order for MYOWN Power to receive payment, I had to sign the letter that the work was completed. I was assured by the owner that they would do everything to ensure the backup system worked properly. No good deed goes unpunished, and I was a fool to have signed anything. I'm an adult and that falls squarely on my shoulders. Needless to say, almost a year later, I do NOT have a working backup system; I've been calling and emailing since February 2023, and they are either out of business or purposefully are not completing the work. It's wonderful for the people they have done right by but if you are one that they screw over, they will take your money and run. Unethical and fully lack integrity.

I'm currently looking for another reputable company to finish the work before my LG battery warranty for an RMA expires in October 2023.

Don’t do it. The sales representative…
Don't do it.

The sales representative will be a charming human, probably genuinely kind and great. They will tell you this is a locally owned company and sell you on that Texas pride stuff.

Well, before you even try scheduling something, ask yourself the following questions:

Do you enjoy being an unpaid project manager for a company you're paying to do a service by following through repeatedly with phone calls and texts to get updates? This is the company for you.

Do you enjoy contractors who damage your HVAC unit, try to hide it until you have video evidence showing the extent of the damage? This is the company for you.

Do you enjoy being ghosted as if you were on a dating app while trying to get reimbursed for an inspection fee on work done to repair the damage they caused? This is the company for you.

Do you enjoy calling over the course of two months only to get voicemail boxes and wonder if the company is even operating anymore? This is the company for you.

I am a subcontractor USED…
I am a subcontractor USED by myo power. This was my first project working with/for them. A few Sheetrock repairs (damage caused by installation) completed to customer satisfaction. Invoiced over a month ago and have been ghosted by the entire company on paying my invoices. Unfortunately going to have to get my attorney involved. HIGHLY do not recommend doing business with this company if you are a sub. If you are a homeowner/customer; prepare to have liens filed against your home due to them not paying their subs.

I’ve heard I am not the only company they refuse to pay. Another company is owed over 30k ?.

They are the worst company….
They are the worst company. Customer service never answered. I have been with the company since July 2021, they installed the panels on 8-23-21 the panels are not working. I sign for battery the same day, and they installed it on December 2022, more than a year waiting for service, but I have to pay the loan and the electricity bills. I have been sending emails and text, they don’t even call me back to check. I don’t recommend this company to no one.
