Kunert Electric Overview
Situated in Roseburg, Oregon, Kunert Electric is the third generation of a family business which goes back to 1967, the latest iteration of which has been in operation for twenty-eight years. A small company of fewer than ten employees, Kunert sports a revenue between $500,000 and $1 million.
Kunert Electric provides a variety of electrical services, including solar, but also micro-hydroelectric, wind turbines, and standby generators. They also cover electrical troubleshooting, upgrades, and general repairs, making them competent all-around handymen in the Douglas County area.
Kunert Electric Services and Specifics
Specific Solar Panels offered
It’s incredibly difficult to find any information about the specific brands or components that Kunert Electric provide – they have no listed partnerships, and their Project Gallery doesn’t include a single instance of a solar energy system. The only confirmed solar installation they’ve completed is the one on their premises.
Specific Types of Solar Offered
Kunert Electric supposedly provides a variety of solar solutions for residential and commercial properties in the Douglas County area, with further public work services across Oregon and Northern California. They boast on their website that they are the only Electrical Contractor and Dealer licensed to sell and service photovoltaic solar power systems in the whole of Douglas County.
Their website lists off-grid solar energy systems, meaning that the power provided will be exclusive to the property. SolarReviews also lists them as providing grid-tied solutions for residential and commercial properties, although we failed to find any confirmation of this. What few google reviews they have are primarily focused on their electrical repair services rather than any of their solar projects, making it difficult to discern what installation options they offer.
Kunert Electric Installation Costs and Process
Kunert Electric offers a free evaluation and estimate for their solar solutions, as well as promising quality service and product. However, when SolarEMpower enquired about their pricing structure and whether or not they prioritised quality or cost, we received no reply. At least one reviewer mentions receiving an unexpected fee for services rendered, though this issue seems to have been resolved.
Kunert Electric does not offer any financing solutions, nor does it recommend any on its website.
Kunert Electric appears to be a legitimate company, as they are licensed as a general contractor with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB, #94510). However, this information was not readily available on their website. Very little information about their qualifications or certifications is present at all. They are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau despite having a profile opened since 2010. They also lack many of the more prestigious accolades of their competitors, such as NABCEP certification or partnership with the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).
Despite providing energy solutions for decades, they only sport a handful of mixed reviews. When SolarEmpower reached out for comment and further information about the company, we received no reply whatsoever, which is extremely concerning.
What few reviews Kunert Electric does have all focus on their electrical maintenance services, and this is where the company seems to shine. They deliver a fast and efficient repair service for a variety of energy systems, and their customers praise them for their expertise and service. However, none of this is specific to their purported solar energy systems. Whilst many of their customers are satisfied with their services, a few mention extremely long delays and a distinct lack of communication or promptness, much like what we experienced.
There is currently no information on whether Kunert Energy provides warranties on its installations or products.
The SolarEmpower View
|Cost: 5/10||Legitimacy: 2/10|
|Quality: 8/10||Customer Service: 2/10|
A recurring theme with Kunert Electric is a worrying lack of information. Their solar energy services feel like an afterthought on their website, and we struggled to find much more on aggregate and review sites. Their distinct lack of communication is also incredibly concerning, which, when combined with the confusion surrounding which services they provide, makes them a risky prospect for first-time solar buyers. As such, we cannot recommend Kunert Electric for your solar energy needs. 2/10.
