Green House Solar Overview
Green House Solar is a small-sized solar panel installation company in New Jersey. Founded in 2015, it is quite a young company compared to its competition; however, its revenue of approximately $7.2 million is impressive for its size. Green House Solar offers both residential and commercial installations that are grid-tied, as well as residential battery backup systems.
Despite not boasting BBB Accreditation, it does have an A+ rating on the platform. It carries primarily 5-star reviews on the review sites we trawled. It appears to be a highly-legitimate company, with only two negative reviews across all platforms surveyed.
Green House Solar’s Solar Panel Services and Features
Specific solar panels offered
Green House Solar provides customers with just two options of solar panel brands, but both are highly reputable:
- SunPower: one of the elite solar panel brands across the globe, with leading metrics in efficiency and electrical specifications. Appears only to offer mono-crystalline options.
- AllEarth Renewable: this brand’s most popular product appears to be solar panels that track and follow the sun’s movement, ensuring the highest efficiency possible and can generate as much as 45% more energy.
Inverters are provided by Enphase, SMA, and Outback Power Systems, while batteries come from Sonnen Inc. and Blue Planet.
Specific types of solar solutions offered
Green House Solar offers grid-tied and battery-backed systems for residential projects but only grid-tied for commercial projects.
Installation costs & process
Green House Solar’s estimated average installation cost of $14,226 is slightly below the industry average for New Jersey. However, each solar panel installation project is different, meaning prices will almost always differ.
The company’s website is unclear whether free estimates are part of the service offered. However, one customer review explains that they were:
|“provided with detailed numbers, which we found very useful when deciding to go solar, and in choosing this company over others”.|
This would suggest that a free estimate was provided at the consultation stage. The website also has a feature that allows potential clients to design their own home solar design and calculate their savings, which is a neat touch.
Most customers also praised Green House Solar’s thorough approach, from the consultation and design stages through to installation and aftersales. Before installation, Green House Solar will conduct all the necessary checks. Still, since it appears they don’t provide roofing services, it can only make recommendations for any repairs required. With the contract signed, the required permits are sought, which could take up to two months. Clients have praised installations as “smooth” and being able to turn on their systems a couple of days after completion.
Green House Solar works with several financing companies to help potential clients finance their solar projects, with zero down financing options. It also details how to access the 30% federal tax credit.
Green House Solar appears to be a highly-legitimate business, even if it’s not BBB accredited.
- Contractors State Licence Board Certificate Number 1001143.
- Transparent with contact details on its website.
- Company information is accessible across different websites and platforms.
- The company president appears highly approachable and is often praised by the customers he meets.
- Boasts over 60 5-star reviews across various platforms, with an average 4.6-star rating.
There appears to be no mention of maintenance provided on the company website. However, on different review sites, customers have praised the aftersales approach. In most cases, it appears that installation and energy productions exceeded expectations, though there was one customer who explained that “some early ‘growing pains’” were well handled by the owner, project, and operations coordinators.
Customer Service (Review Analysis)
There is overwhelming praise for Green House Solar’s customer service at the consultation, installation, and post-installation stages. People describe the company’s efforts as “very professional,” “stellar,” and “top-notch,” to mention a few. In addition, the company president, Frank Curran, is heavily involved and is known to visit project sites to speak with property owners and field any questions they might have.
Reviewers describe the installation as clean and efficient, with one in particular explaining that the wiring was hidden away to ensure the house façade and roof looked as good as ever.
The two negative reviews are worth a closer look. A 3-star review claimed that the sales team never followed up, leading to the person selecting a different company for a solar panel project. Green House Solar did comment on the post, asking the person to get in touch to find out exactly what happened.
The sole 1-star review, however, was far more damning, as an installation date was missed despite confirming it multiple times. In addition, the salesperson involved allegedly did little to help solve the situation, with the reviewer describing the issue as “the most aggravating situation I’ve had to deal with in a long time”. Green House Solar did not comment on the post.
The SolarEmpower View
Green House Solar appears to be a widely respected name in the solar panel installation field. The company’s choice to almost exclusively use SunPower solar panels is an interesting one and stems from the brand having top-tier products. The sales, installation, and customer service teams are praised across various platforms, with only two negative reviews from the 64 surveyed representing a good ratio.
The lack of BBB accreditation does not detract much from the company’s legitimacy, as the company website provides clear details and a vast number of 5-star reviews on different mediums. The two negative reviews don’t appear to highlight recurring issues but rather appear to be one-off situations of miscommunication from Green House Solar’s end.
