Falmouth Solar Overview

Falmouth Solar is a small solar installation company based in Teaticket, MA, and serves clients in the surrounding area. The company was founded in 2012 by Paul Sutton, who has a long construction history. After attending night school to learn about solar and renewable energy, he gathered a small team of experts to start Falmouth Solar. The company has eight employees. It is a private business, and no information is available regarding its annual revenue or the number of installations completed.

The company offers solar installations to residential and commercial properties. During 2013 and 2014, the company was named one of the Top 400 solar contractors. However, there appears to be little growth in the company since then. There are also no reviews to be found about the company.

Falmouth Solar Services and Features

Specific Types of Solar offered

Falmouth Solar offers solar installation for residential and commercial properties. When it comes to commercial properties, they offer both leasing and purchase solutions. The team also works with non-profits.

Residential Systems: The company relies on quality, locally manufactured SolarWorld panels for residential installations. The team offers its clients SolarEdge DC optimizers and Solectria string inverters.

The company strongly advises all residential clients to purchase their solar systems instead of renting this kind of solution. The reasoning is that when a residential property owner opts to rent, they may enjoy a minor reduction in their utility bill but will enjoy much more significant savings when they choose to purchase the system.

Commercial Systems: For commercial properties, the company offers both leasing and purchasing. However, the team still states that if the commercial property is small, purchasing may remain the best way to enjoy optimum returns on your investment.

Installation costs and process

Costs

Falmouth Solar is a small company, and one may expect that they offer a personal and even more affordable service. However, there is no indication of how their prices compare to other competitors. Due to the lack of reviews, we can’t confirm whether they are more affordable than other solar providers in the area.

The company offers financial assistance through loans of up to $25,000 from Admirals Bank, with rates starting from 5%. They can also offer loans at zero interest for HEAT loans of solar heating and hot water installations.

When we asked Falmouth Solar to expand on the type of financial assistance they offer, the team expanded on the financial support they bring through the help of Admirals Bank. They also mentioned that they guide clients to enjoy optimal state and federal tax benefits. They also have a recommended broker to assist their clients in getting their Solar Renewable Energy Credits.

However, take note of the following:

  • The company is not accredited by the BBB.
  • The company is not transparent with its contact details. It doesn’t state its address on the company website, and there is no known phone number for the brand either.
  • There is not a lot of information available about the company online. Even the company website doesn’t provide great transparency.

Maintenance

While the company claims on other platforms that it offers maintenance solutions, it doesn’t mention it on its website. We suggest that you confirm the maintenance options with them directly. Also, determine whether maintenance is taken care of by their in-house team or whether they outsource that to a 3rd party provider. Due to the team’s small size, the latter may just be the option the company offers.

The SolarEmpower View

Falmouth Solar seems to have had an excellent start when it just opened its doors to the public. However, since being named as a Top 400 solar provider for two consecutive years, it doesn’t appear as if there has been any growth. It also appears that their website is not completed. That said, the brand’s team seems to be sufficiently qualified and skilled to provide excellent service.

The lack of online information may also be due to the brand’s small size and because the team may cater predominantly to the locals in their area. While this solar provider’s online presence surely has many gaps that can be a cause of concern, it might simply be that online is not the audience they are attracting and that the team is excellent in what they offer. Whether this is the case, we can’t confirm due to a lack of available information. We recommend you reach out to them and discuss your needs before making any definite choices.
