Overview

Bright Eye is a solar panel installation company handling commercial and residential solar energy solutions in New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania, where its headquarters are based. The company was founded in 2010.

Consistently given four and five-star reviews across various platforms is undoubtedly a source of pride for the company and a good source for potential customers. Each review speaks of high-level customer service, knowledgeable sales staff and determination to handle any issues immediately, causing as little disruption to their customers as possible.

Bright Eye Solar LLC services and features

Bright Eye Products

Bright Eye takes care only of solar panel installation, meaning they do not handle any roof construction, though tree trimming/removal, re-roofing via partner roofing companies, and additional electrical wiring services are all part of their repertoire. Bright Eye will also thoroughly assess the customer’s desired installation site, whether on the ground or on the roof, with structural integrity tests for roof installations.

Since solar energy systems are required to disconnect from the electric grid during an outage, battery backups are widely recommended. Bright Eye uses Generac’s PWRcell Solar + Battery Storage System, which blends power and capacity with automatic load management to provide reliable whole-home backup in case of an outage.

Bright Eye offers both on-the-grid and off-the-grid options, though they make it quite clear that on-the-grid means customers will be more likely to benefit from federal incentives and tariffs, not to mention the possibility of selling any extra energy generated back to the grid itself as an extra source of income.

Bright Eye Pricing

Bright Eye explains that costs vary depending on the system size, type and if any special engineering design is required. Before performing a complete survey, a property review is conducted to determine solar energy suitability along with your energy bill, usage, and needs.

This means that Bright Eye will help your household or business become more energy efficient even before installing the panels.

Exact prices are not available given the variables at play, though Bright Eye explains the entire system cost of a typical 8-kilowatt installation is approximately $18,000 after factoring in any state or federal incentives.

It might sound like a lot, but the return of investment over ten years will also be a similar amount, the company explains. It also offers 10, 15, 20 and 25-year financing terms, with monthly payments similar to what a customer would pay the electricity company.

Bright Eye Solar is an LLC, meaning it carries two million dollars of liability insurance, is registered in Pennsylvania as a home improvement contractor, and has employees protected by the Workers’ Compensation Act.

The PWRcell Solar + Battery Storage System comes with a 10-year limited warranty. Depending on battery size, it also carries a throughput warranty, based on how much energy the system has stored and discharged, rather than the time of use.

Customer reviews point towards competitive pricing for a high-quality end product installed by industry experts.

Bright Eye Legitimacy

Bright Eye is certainly a legitimate company for a variety of reasons.

  • It’s IREC (Interstate Renewable Energy Council) accredited, while its technicians are also NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certified
  • Contact details for their various offices can be found easily on their website, details that include locations, e-mail addresses and phone numbers
  • They provide a clear snapshot of what to expect when using their services, from site inspection to installation and a maintenance plan
  • Customer reviews appear to be genuine, especially given the variety of posts and platforms
  • The one negative review (found on Gripeo) was directly addressed by Bright Eye’s CEO Jim Noden, who denounced the post as fake and possibly written by a rival company
  • 12 years of experience in the field and a team consisting of industry journeymen and highly trained technicians place them towards to top of their market segment

Bright Eye Maintenance

Once the installed panels are tested and adjusted as necessary, Bright Eye will put together a maintenance schedule ensuring maximum energy production from the panels. Though they state that routine maintenance is not required, it’s important to keep core components clean and debris-free.

Bright Eye will provide on-site servicing. The company monitors the system’s performance over its lifetime, ensuring the power generated is what you need and agreed upon. If cleaning is required, Bright Eye partnered with Decks Etc. Power Washing in Lancaster and, although it emphasises regular solar panel cleaning isn’t entirely necessary, it can arrange for affordable panel washing once or twice a year.

All of the above is backed up by customer reviews on various platforms, with many commending Bright Eye’s rapid response. Although one customer mentioned relatively slow interaction, the same person stated that this was probably due to the employee being out on the road for installations and understood the delay.

Bright Eye states that most new solar panels last 30 years or longer if manufacturer-specified maintenance is applied. On its website, the company explains that most manufacturers give warranty periods of 20-25 years.

It also monitors any systems installed over the entire service lifetime.

The SolarEmpower View

The consensus is that Bright Eye offers quality service at reasonable prices. People compliment the staff on their knowledge and professionalism and appear to be happy with the work done in terms of installation, energy production over the subsequent years, and with after-sales services.

Great experience with Bright Eye…
Great experience with Bright Eye Solar. I like how they handled all the difficult tasks like all the paperwork needed and getting all the approvals. The installation went smoothly and now I am excited to stop paying such high electrics bills. Also the panels look very nice on the roof.

System is up and running…
System is up and running and so far so good! Looks great and the bills are dropping. I did have one inverter that caused problems from new however David See cleared that up pretty quickly once i brought it to his attention. Service after installation is very important and says a lot about a company. This company offers top notch products and had the best financing options locally. Overall they were great. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there were a few bumps in the road that indicated they are short handed like everyone else these days and I had to do some investigating and make some calls to get a couple issues figured out during the permit and inspection processes. The work crew guys were polite and did a clean job. I only found a couple zip ties and wire insulation trimmings laying around here and there afterward which is to be expected with such a large job. I would recommend this company to anyone locally who is looking to get solar installed!

We loved working with these guys! They showed up every morning before I even got my kids out of bed and got to work. It was a speedy process for installation, inspection, and a minor fix. All of the guys that were here were incredibly friendly and didn't make a mess of the yard or anything. Bonus points that they played with my dog while they ate lunch and whenever they'd come down off the roof. Everything is up and running now and we're super happy with it. I would definitely recommend Bright Eye to anyone looking for solar!

what a wonderful experience this…
what a wonderful experience this was.
number one thing I learned is you want a company that won’t go belly up after installing your solar panels. this company has a reputation and will continue to prosper for years to come.
the speed at which the panels got installed by their crew was incredible.
also the all black look of the panels they use compared to some others you’ll see on peoples homes just look sharp!
5 star rating.
do yoursef a favor and take advantage of the tax credit incentive and use this company for your solar needs

Really great experience with Bright…
Really great experience with Bright Eye - from sales to install to support - the team really was great. The only (slight) bit of sugestions for improvement would be that the SREC 'paperwork' after the process is confusing - i'm still not sure if I've got it right or not - so perhaps a brochure that walks folks through it step by step might be a nice to have. But now i'm nitpicking.

Great job guys!

Bright Eye just finished our…
Bright Eye just finished our 7kW setup. I couldn't be happier with the expediency, professionalism and end result. They reviewed what they were doing with us, the ran very clean lines both in the house and on the roof.
It was turn-key, they handled all interaction with the township, the electric company and with the SREC broker.
Best part: They finished 50 days early and with no cost increases!!

Update after 8 months: the system is running great, everything worked out with the SREC broker, I can monitor my production with the app and I’m trending to produce as much power as they estimated.

Yvette Turner and Josh Sheppard…
Yvette Turner and Josh Sheppard from Bright Eye Solar were very good at guiding us through a myriad of equipment choices, permits, interconnection applications and inspections in the process of installing a solar power system (11.1 kW) on our home. The technical staff led by electrician Robert Whitman was professional, courteous and performed as experienced craftsman during the equipment installation. The job was completed in the time frame presented to us at the start. The final system has been performing as designed. We were very satisfied with the services provided.

Determined they are not a…
Determined they are not a good fit after reading a sample contract. Read the contract before signing!

Brighteye’s contract offers a 10 year workmanship warranty with exclusions limiting labor to 5 years on Enphase microinverters. After this the customer is responsible for labor costs. When asked, the salesman told me after 5 years “it gets tricky” on the covered labor. Words a potential client NEVER wants to hear. The inverters are a very important component of the system. Every other company I quoted with offered at least a 20 or 25 year blanket warranty on their system. Brighteye’s response was ALL these other solar companies will go out of business due to their warranty and Brighteye knows what’s best. Well Brighteye’s warranty is best for Brighteye not for the customer. Read before signing.

There are companies who offer 25 year warranties backed by an insurance company that cover you if they go out of business.

For a local company-price quoted was good. Took playing the commonly used sales games to get their best price. What’s important is what’s in the contract. Should you have a problem-that is what will save you. Not verbal assurances. Some of the responses I got were (“Don’t get wrapped up on third party warranties”) (“We will be here to resolve concerns, not the company with superior warranty”)

One star is for the attitude sales developed after I started asking the important questions. As in all sales-the attitudes are great until you sign or until you challenge something they are selling.

All in all-I was about to sign until I read the contract. Between the lacking warranty and nasty context developed by sales when the important questions started I would avoid signing with them.

BrightEye Solar was a great…
BrightEye Solar was a great decision for us. They came out. Did their evaluation. Provided an immediate quote with an excellent and thorough explanation of the system. They explained the process, the installation process, and how the electricity generation and SRECS would work. The team did a great job and were in and out in 2.5 days. The inspection process followed quickly after. 5 Stars! I would recommend them to anyone.
