Interview with Alexandra Murray - Lunex Power

Updated on June 9, 2024

In today’s interview, we have Alexandra Murray, Marketing Director of Lunex Power.

| Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Alexandra Murray, and I am originally from Tampa, FL. I hold a marketing degree from Florida State University and a Master’s in Marketing and Analytics from the University of South Florida. My career aspirations initially focused on marketing for large beauty brands, with the ultimate goal of founding my own beauty brand. I have experience working with clean and sustainable brands, which sparked my passion for marketing to eco-conscious consumers. These consumers not only care about what they put on their bodies but also how the products they use impact the environment. I was inspired by their purchasing habits, which reflect a long-term focus on sustainability. This inspiration has been invaluable in helping me understand and connect with Lunex Power’s customers.

Although my plan was never to work in the solar industry, I have fallen in love with helping people see the light at the end of a tunnel they thought was never-ending. My other passion is helping people, and this job allows me to do that every day. Guiding people to stop paying ridiculous electric bills and instead invest in sustainable energy solutions has been incredibly fulfilling. At Lunex Power, I get to combine my marketing expertise with my dedication to sustainability, helping clients find tailored solar solutions that meet their needs and preferences. Whether they need high-performing panels or prioritize aesthetics, Lunex Power is committed to ensuring they receive the best possible service and support.

| So, was this company your first job in the solar industry?

Yes

| Can you talk about your job in the company?

I am the marketing director, responsible for overseeing all marketing activities.

| Yes, I can see there’s a lot going on, on the website. You have a vibrant blog section and a lot more content rich sections for your users. Do you manage everything?

I do.

| How many people do you have at the company?

Currently, we have over 100 employees across both of our markets – Florida and New England (MA, CT, RI).

| Can you talk a bit about the company? Do you know anything about its early days, how it grew to where it is right now?

Lunex was built from the ground up with a heavy focus on engineering, procurement, and operations. We started as a humble installation firm where we built a solid foundation for long-term growth. This approach to growth has attracted top-talent to our organization and has helped us to build one of the most talented and experienced teams industry-wide.

| Is it true that your company handles both residential and commercial projects?

Yes. With over 50 years of combined experience, we have been able to provide residents and businesses with over 250 megawatts of clean energy. Finished projects include utility-scale solar farms and over 1200 homes and businesses per year across the eastern United States.

| Do you typically advise your clients to consider high-performing and aesthetically pleasing solar panels, like Solaria Solar Panels and Maxeon, even if they have their own vision of what they want to do for their solar project?

Our approach is to tailor our solar solutions to each client’s specific needs and preferences. Some clients may require higher-producing panels for maximum efficiency, while others might prioritize the aesthetics of their installation. We work closely with each client to understand their unique requirements and provide products and services that best suit their project goals.

| Do you carefully select the customers you offer your services to, even among those who approach you asking for the service?

We strive to assist anyone who comes to us for help. While we have an ideal customer profile, our priority is to support all clients, even if it means losing their business to act in their best interest. We frequently encounter customers seeking service who initially installed their systems with other companies that have since ceased operations, neglected them, or left them dissatisfied. Our commitment is to provide reliable support and solutions to all who need it.

| Do you think about the competition? I mean, you have your way of doing things, and I’m assuming that’s what attracts your customers, and makes them pick you over the competition?

Absolutely, we always consider our competition. Lunex Power distinguishes itself by consistently delivering on our promises. While it may seem straightforward, many solar companies fail to uphold their commitments, leaving customers dissatisfied. Some companies deceive customers into purchasing systems that do not benefit them, go out of business, forcing clients to seek service elsewhere, or even scam consumers, resulting in higher costs than their original utility bills. At Lunex Power, we adhere to a strict set of morals and principles, prioritizing customer satisfaction and integrity over comparison with competitors. We operate based on what we believe is right, ensuring a trustworthy and reliable experience for our clients.

| What about the future of your company? Do you have any plans? Are you thinking about it at the moment?

We are looking to expand our offerings to other states, next on our list is North Carolina and Colorado.
