SolarEmpower Ltd. is the result of a synergy of 70 years U.K. manufacturing experience with 10 years international research into solar technologies. Through close collaborations with leading universities and research institutes* Barry Clive’s original company, Optical Products Ltd. has used its technical and manufacturing expertise to produce a portfolio of advanced, practical and highly marketable solar products.

Improvements to conventional solar products include a solar thermal panel that operates efficiently in all orientations enabling solar water heating in locations that would not be viable for conventional panels.

A core innovation of SolarEmpower is a new category of solar installation: translucent panels that simultaneously convert all aspects of the solar photon (light, heat and electricity) into useful energy. As well as delivering significant efficiency and cost advantages over existing solar PV and thermal products the technology creates entirely new market opportunities in building integrated and retrofitted solar solutions.

Before joining SolarEmpower as its CEO, Charles Hall had already grown an investor base attracted to clean energy investment and sustainability. Individuals from this base have now invested in SolarEmpower. Other investors include two specialist clean energy funds, one in Continental Europe and one in New York.

Coinciding with the launch of momentous UK Government incentive schemes for renewable energy generation and an increase in the volatility of non-renewable energy markets, SolarEmpower is ready to launch its portfolio of new products. To support and facilitate their deployment the company is currently looking for industrial partners and/or institutional investors as well as partnerships with Government agencies.
