Edmund Hawkes has 35 years experience in engineering. He started his career at Thorn Electrical industries where he gained his qualifications and practical knowledge to become a fully skilled toolmaker and machinist.
 
After moving on to other organisations where he held managerial positions, he established his own successful business, a metalworking company manufacturing for the retail, display and construction industry.
 
He merged this business with a company specialising in anodised aluminium extruded products and headed the setting up and restructuring of the manufacturing proceedures to increase production and efficiency.
 
In 1998 he met Barry Clive with whom he worked closely on many projects with Barry’s long established manufacturing company, Optical Products Ltd.
 
Edmund joined Solarempower in 2007 where he has played a central role in the design and manufacture of solar PV and solarthermal projects, gaining the Solar Keymark accreditation for our evacuated tube system.
