AECOM
SolarEmpower are now working actively with AECOM www.aecom.com to investigate the most appropriate applications and markets for their existing and imminent products. With their wide ranging and global presence AECOM are ideally positioned to thoroughly assess the array of major opportunities that are available to SolarEmpower.

Henley on Thames
SolarEmpower are now helping the Henley in Transition group www.henley-in-transition.org.uk in their very ambitious but achievable task to make Henley on Thames carbon neutral by 2012

Energy is radiated onto all surfaces of a building during every moment of daylight. Only a fraction of it is harvested by conventional solar systems. SolarEmpower have devoted the past decade to developing and combining technologies that reap the full benefit of the sun's energy in the form of cool light, electricity and heat.

This unique approach makes cost equivalence with fossil fuels achievable now - even without subsidies.

These innovations are not hypothetical; some are already in commercial production, others are in advanced development.

The SolarBrane
In nature, skin is a vital organ not just a protective barrier. Our technology mimics nature by converting the envelope of a building from something inert that simply excludes the immediate environment to something dynamic that cooperates with it, transforming the force of the elements into an abundant resource. It does this as well as protecting the interior with shade, filtering out glare and the harmful effects of sunlight.

Sentient Buildings
SolarEmpower’s technology makes a new type of building possible, a step change that is equivalent to the information and communication revolutions of the past decade. However, these new constructions will be more than smart buildings which improve our lives, they'll be sentient ones to help save our ecosphere.

Cost equivalence with fossil fuels will be achieved by an array of complementary innovations, including:

Increased photovoltaic conversion efficiency significantly reducing the use of silicon.
Generation of heat and cool light.
Optimal use of solar geometry enabling non-south facing installations.
Simplification and cost reduction of installation through a) close relationships with the construction industry & b) the integration of power electronics.
Leveraging the vast (and underutilized) production and development resources of the microprocessor industry.
Shade, preventing the harmful effects of sunlight and reducing energy required for air conditioning.
